Railweight Streamline Rail Weighing Transducer Product Image

Streamline: Patented Weighing Transducer

In-motion rail scale accuracy engineered into the rail itself.

The most Accurate Train Weighing Transducer

Streamline’s internationally patented Twin Strip Technology is the most Accurate Train Weighing Transducer on the market. It measures the true vertical force of every wheel while disregarding horizontal and torsional deflections, so imperfections in the rail or fixing never compromise measurement. It installs into your existing railtrack for a cost-effective, OIML-compliant solution.

  • Legal-for-trade accuracy at speeds up to 100 km/h

  • Detects imbalances and overloads to prevent fines

  • Installs quickly with minimal disruption

  • No moving parts, durable, low maintenance

  • Rail imperfections don’t affect accuracy

Streamline Train Scale Transducer Product Information

How Twin Strip Technology Works

Streamline uses Twin Strip Technology to measure the vertical forces of train wheels as they pass over the transducers, while disregarding any horizontal or torsional deflections. When connected to a weight processor, the signals from up to eight pairs of transducers are converted into weight.

This matters because a wheel does not load a rail cleanly. It pushes laterally, it twists, and it runs over rail and fixings with real-world tolerances. Sensors that cannot separate those components read them as weight, and your accuracy drifts. Streamline separates them by design.

The result is repeatable, trade-approved accuracy at line speed, from a transducer that fits into the railway you already own.

Streamline Weighing Transducer Applications and Benefits

Where Streamline is used

  • Gross weighing of trains on mainline track at up to 100 km/h, depending on application and required accuracy
  • Determining gross, tare and net weights at shunting yard and siding speeds
  • Recognising mixed rolling stock with various axle counts, without operator intervention
  • Detecting damaging overloaded wagons, axles and wheels
  • Detecting imbalanced loads, end-to-end and side-to-side
  • Transferring train weight information to a central computer for further processing and analysis

What comes standard

  • Internationally patented design
  • Integrates with any Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) system to monitor an entire fleet from a head office, terminal or network hub
  • Installed quickly and with minimal disruption — track sections do not need removing or relocating
  • Improves safety by identifying imbalances and overloading
  • Reliable and durable, with no moving parts and low maintenance costs
  • Conforms to Legal for Trade, OIML R60 and R106 requirements
  • Meets international environmental standards

Train Weighing Transducer FAQ's

In-Motion Train Weighing Questions Answered

Twin Strip Technology is Railweight’s internationally patented transducer design used in Streamline. It measures the vertical forces of train wheels while disregarding horizontal and torsional deflections, so rail or fixing imperfections do not affect measurement accuracy.

Yes. Systems integrate with any Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI/RFID) system to automatically identify wagons and monitor an entire fleet from a head office, terminal or network hub.

Railweight systems have no moving parts, low maintenance requirements and a long service life. Combined with installation that avoids civil works, that gives a cost of ownership well below many alternatives on the market.

Wheel, axle, bogie, wagon and total-train weights, plus gross, tare and net figures at shunting speed. The TSR4000 also reports wagon sequential number, individual wagon speeds and maximum and minimum train speed.
